Custom container modifications are one of the many solutions that we offer at Pac-Van. From the simplest projects to the most complex ones, our team has the ability to modify storage containers to fit the unique needs of each of our customers.
Hyvee, a Midwest grocery retailer, reached out to our Iowa branch in need of several custom shipping containers that could be used to help with grocery store pickup during the COVID-19 pandemic.
We decided to enlist the help of our sister company, Southern Fabrication Specialties, in creating these modified containers as it provided an advantageous opportunity to have an exciting co-branded collaboration.
Southern Fabrication Specialties is centrally located in Waxahachie, TX, and proudly manufactures its products right there in the U.S.A. Their two manufacturing facilities have a combined square footage of over 90,000 and their manufacturing management team has over 90 years of combined experience. This ensures that the needs of their customers are not only met, but exceeded.
The team at Southern Fabrication Specialties was able to provide Pac-Van with modified 40’ storage containers that include air conditioning, lighting on the interior, and doors on the side that make getting in and out of the unit easy for employees. A total of (30) 40’ storage containers were used to make 15 side-by-side units, and the modifications were completed in a 5-week time frame. The units gave each of the stores an additional 620 sq. ft of space to help with online grocery pickup.
The custom storage containers were set up in the parking lots of local Hyvee locations, and they allowed employees to easily drop-off groceries to customers in their cars.
