Pac-Van on the set of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition

Not long ago, Pac-Van was able to participate in a great community project near our Indianapolis branch. The ABC television show Extreme Makeover: Home Edition was in town to surprise the McFarland family with a renovation of their home. It was truly amazing how local businesses and the entire community were able to come together to makeover not only the McFarland home but their whole Martindale-Brightwood neighborhood. Extreme_Home_Makeover015.JPG As part of the project, Pac-Van provided mobile offices to coordinate the hundreds of employees and volunteers that were on-site for the seven day construction job. The logistics of organizing that many people as well as the building materials and equipment was impressive. The video production crew from ABC operated the scene like a well-oiled machine. Everyone who worked on the site wore a blue T-Shirt with the show's logo. The site brought to mind a colony of blue ants constructing their hill. Given the extremely critical time demands of the project, a lot of the supplies were kept in Pac-Van 40' storage containers near the construction site. The large group of containers was prominently labeled "Bin City" by the production crew from the west coast. In all, Pac-Van supplied nearly 18,000 cubic feet of storage. Extreme_Home_Makeover025.JPG There were several employees from the Pac-Van Indianapolis branch and the corporate office that were able to help out with some of the smaller tasks on the site like moving in the new furnishings. Some also were lucky enough to meet a few of the celebrities from the show. The makeover wasn't limited to the McFarland home. From the construction site, you could see numerous homes around the neighborhood that were getting fresh coats of paint, roof repairs, new siding, and lots of landscaping. The extra time and effort spent on the surrounding area was a visual representation of the positive impact that Mr. McFarland had made on the entire community. The story of the McFarland family is well worth the time spent watching the two-hour season finale. Pac-Van was proud to participate in such a positive and meaningful project here in our own hometown.
