Last month, Pac-Van had the pleasure of sponsoring and attending the 31st annual
A Monumental Affair event, which recognizes the best architectural, design & construction projects in Indianapolis. This year's event was held at the Indiana Roof Ballroom with proceeds going to the local not-for-profit,
Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, Inc., whose mission is to unite people to beautify the city, improve the environment and foster pride in the community.
The evening began with a sumptuous dinner followed by keynote speaker
Christopher B. Leinberger. His presentation on "walkable urban environments," was an enlightening look at the future of metro developments and the forces driving emerging trends.
The ten award categories for the event spanned everything from architectural design to landscaping and public art. The nominees were a veritable who's who of firms from all around Indianapolis including
RATIO Architects, Inc., Buckingham Companies, Domain Architecture, Schmidt Associates,
Shiel Sexton,
Turner Construction Company of Indiana, LLC, Eli Lilly, and many more.
The crowning jewel of the evening was the presentation of the
2008 Monumental Award. The IU Simon Cancer Center received the award, which recognizes the project that best epitomizes all ten of the award categories. The Cancer Center most notably offered a serene environment for the patients while providing a strong social and economic impact within Marion County.
Pac-Van was very honored to have been part of such a prestigious event and would like to congratulate all of the nominees, Achievement, Merit, and Honor Awards recipients.
