Pac-Van, Inc. Vice President of Operations serves second term on board of Modular Building Institute

Gary Humphrey, the Vice President of Operations for Pac-Van, Inc. was recently re-elected to serve on the board for Modular Building Institute (MBI) for his second two-year term.  MBI is a non-profit trade association that was founded in 1983 to support the modular building industry. The membership of MBI is largely comprised of manufacturers and distributors of modular buildings. It is the primary goal of the organization to grow the industry through innovation, quality, and professionalism.

One of Gary's pursuits as a leader in the modular industry is to promote safety standards for companies that handle the on-site set up of modular buildings. This passion has earned him a position of Trustee for the MBI Education Foundation, a committee dedicated to providing training and scholarships for individuals with an interest in commercial modular construction. The foundation has provided training to over 1,000 industry professionals since 2001.

Gary sees standards as a way to improve the industry. "If your people on the construction site start using shortcuts, then shortcuts become the standard and the industry as a whole suffers. That means we need to introduce guidelines that are adhered to by our members and enforceable by MBI or an independent third-party."

He hopes to have this accreditation process and means to hold members of MBI accountable before the end of this term. His duties for Pac-Van and MBI keep him away from the office frequently so working on the documentation for this initiative may take some time.

Pac-Van is proud to have Gary as the Vice President of Operations. "With his enthusiasm for the industry, Gary has been a key part of Pac-Van's growth. He doesn't settle for anything less than a top quality job when we deliver a modular building," said Ted Mourouzis, Pac-Van's President.

Gary officially starts his second term in March and looks forward to being able to continue to play an important role in the industry.
